Danae’s first offshore experience!

Finally the day arrived to depart Seattle. I was excited to be going for my first offshore experience! After a moving speech by the skipper of the “Sail like a Girl” team, Jeanne Goussev, and songs from Voices Northwest Chorus (Snohomish County’s all women a cappella chorus) we were off! Motoring away in the bright sunshine with the Seattle Skyline behind us – beautiful! “Sail Like a Girl” and several other boats escorted us for a while then waved good bye.

Milebuilder Theresa documents her journey onboard Maiden so far…

We’re over half way to Vancouver! It’s been such a surreal experience so far aboard Maiden. I am so excited to be on this journey and sailing into my home port of Vancouver. Leaving Hawaii we were busy with tasks, getting used to the boat, and dealing with up to 2 meter swells while beating upwind in 25 knots at times. Maiden arrives in Honolulu, Hawaii!

Legendary yacht Maiden sailed into the Hawaii Yacht Club, on the fourth stopover of a worldwide tour to raise awareness and funds for girls’ education around the globe.  Co-Skipper Sharon Ferris-Choat reported: “We just literally surfed into Honolulu- we came in on surfing wave into the harbour after 22 days from Auckland!
